Should I Add a Translation Option to My Website?

The Advantages of having a multi-lingual website

In today’s interconnected world, having a multilingual website can be a significant advantage. However, it’s important to weigh the pros and cons before deciding to add a translation option to your site. Here, we explore the benefits and potential drawbacks to help you make an informed decision.

The Benefits of Adding a Translation Option to your website

Reach a Global Audience:

  • Increased Accessibility: A translation option makes your website accessible to non-native speakers, potentially expanding your audience significantly. The system we use allows translation to over 100 languages from English.
  • Market Expansion: By catering to multiple languages, you can tap into new markets and reach a broader customer base.

Improved User Experience:

  • Enhanced Engagement: Visitors are more likely to engage with your content if it’s available in their native language, leading to higher user satisfaction.
  • Lower Bounce Rates: Users are less likely to leave your site immediately if they can easily read and understand the content.

Competitive Advantage:

  • Stand Out: Offering multiple languages can set you apart from competitors who only provide content in one language.
  • Customer Trust: A multilingual website demonstrates your commitment to serving diverse customers, building trust and credibility.

Increased Sales:

  • Higher Conversion Rates: Users are more likely to make purchases or inquiries if they can navigate and understand your website in their preferred language.
  • Broader Reach: Multilingual options can help you attract international customers, boosting your sales and revenue potential.

Potential drawbacks

There are only 3 potential drawbacks (and 2 of these are not applicable if we help you with your multilingual website).

Cost and Resources: Translating a website can be expensive, especially if you need professional translation services for accuracy and quality. This is not the case with the solution we use. Although not perfect, our solution enables translation to over 100 languages from the original English, at the click of a button, by your users.

Complexity & Consistency: Implementing a translation feature can be technically complex, especially if your website has dynamic content or complex functionalities. Furthermore Ensuring that all content is consistently translated and up-to-date across different languages can be challenging. Again, this is not the case with the solution we use.

Accuracy:  As its not a human translating the entire website (which would be an ongoing project and incredibly expensive) you are not going to get 100% accuracy. Our inepxensive solution however has an accuracy in the range of 85-90% for general, non-technical text.
